Looking glass

See the internet the way our network sees it. Ping, traceroute and MTR run on our own nodes and leave from our own addresses, so what you get back is the path our traffic actually takes — not the path from wherever you happen to be.

Step 1

Type an address or a hostname. Public targets only.

Step 2

Choose a measurement. "Every city" pings from all of them at once.

Step 3

Run it. Results appear below, usually within ten seconds.

An IPv4 or IPv6 address, or a name that resolves to one.

Measurement

Where it measures from

Every node that is online right now. Measurements leave from that node's own business address, not from the shared anycast service address — an echo reply to an anycast source would come back to whichever node is nearest the target, which is usually a different one, and the result would be loss everywhere.

What it will not do

Private, loopback, link-local, CGNAT and documentation addresses are refused, and a hostname is checked again on the node after it resolves — otherwise this would be a public way to map the network each node sits on. Every measurement is a fixed, small number of packets, and one visitor gets a limited share per minute.
